Catching Up With Hickman & Gilroy

In case you missed it this weekend, longtime blog friends Hickman and Gilroy were featured in an article by Scott Souza.

Also looking forward to the impending Celtics season with anticipation are "Celtic Pride" hosts Patrick Gilroy and Jeff Hickman. The pair is preparing for a fifth season of Celtics talk this fall and their second on ESPN Boston Radio frequencies 890-AM and 1400-AM.

The duo is also looking forward to the challenge of more competition. For the past four years, Gilroy and Hickman were often the only game in town as they followed Celtics broadcasts on 1510-AM and then did a postgame broadcast on ESPN last season while Celtics flagship WRKO 680-AM went almost immediately back to general programming.

But with the team's broadcasts moving to sports radio power WEEI 850-AM this season, more continuity between the games and the postgame programming is expected on the flagship. Gilroy, though, is undaunted - saying that the fan base the show has built up in recent years will carry over to this season.

"We have people who have been with us for five years," Gilroy said. "They are not going anywhere. If anything, the increased view of the Celtics should allow us to reach more listeners."

Looking forward to another season guys!  Fans will still be able to listen to the shows via a streaming audio link or by simply selecting them on the CelticsBlog radio.

In addition, Patrick Gilroy has a weekly column in the Boston Now newspaper.  You can see the PDF of the paper here.  (You can find his article on Page 9)
