Well, sort of.
'Sort of' on account of the fact that, technically speaking, neither of these two young fellows are actually Celtics at the present time.
'Sort of' also on account of the fact that, given the final score of last night's contest in San Antonio, the Spurs actually did have any numbers of answers.
But we sure can write misleading articles with the best of 'em.
And to get to the point, Ryan Gomes and Al Jefferson sure can play, even if they are once again buried on a hapless basketball team.
Gomes and Big Al showed up to play at the Alamo last night, combining for 45 points on very effective shooting last night against the Spurs. Gomes shot 9-for-15 from the field en route to 21 points and 9 boards. Jefferson went 10-for-18 for 24 points, 4 boards and 2 blocks.
Sadly for the two former C's, however, their seven teammates that got on the floor combined for just 43 points total as the Spurs cruised to a 105-88 victory.
But that is no shock. We knew this Minnesota team wasn't particularly good. But it remains nice to see two fan favorites and stand-up guys from their days in Boston still toiling away and playing well. If there are two non-Celtics across this league who I'm happy to root for, it is most certainly those two. Continued best wishes for better situations for both of them.
