They Are Who We Thought They Were

Jeff takes a look at the return of the Minnesota ex-Celtics to the Garden in his latest column in the Metro. Be sure to check it out.

The T-Wolves will turn in impressive individual performances and show signs of potential promise down the line. However, collectively, the current team just doesn’t have the experience, skill or basketball intelligence to win games. They don’t move the ball effectively and turn the ball over because of silly mistakes. They miss assignments on defense and simply cannot match up with most teams in the NBA.

But the team is rebuilding, so they’ll continue to trot out these young players to evaluate them and give them experience. The problem is they’re getting experience losing, and it is hard to learn good habits in that environment. Perhaps some cap room and draft picks will help in future years. But for now, the team is simply slogging through a woeful season.

Does all of this sound a little too familiar? It should, because it’s the same stuff that used to be written over and over again about the Celtics on a daily basis. It’s just another reason to feel thankful for the way things worked out last summer.
