Ah... May 22, 2007. Remember that night, Celtics fans? That was the night our souls were handed to a lottery ball, and should have lottery ball bounce our way, good times were on the horizon here in Beantown.

The prize was a 19-year-old, 40-year-old named Greg Oden, who stood seven feet tall and had all the physical gifts imaginable and was deemed the league's next big thing. If we could just get this guy, our problems would be solved.

That didn't happen. The Celtics went into the draft lottery with the second-highest odds, and ended up coming away with their position's worst possible statistical scenario - the fifth pick.

New England's reaction, on the whole, was no different than that guy they showed on the screen. You know, the one with a backwards hat on, holding his hands on his head with his mouth open... not moving or even blinking. He was dumbfounded and disgusted.

At the time, it was hell, Looking back, it's humorous. A Ray Allen, a Kevin Garnett, and a title later, it's safe to say that we've gotten over the "coulda, shoulda, woulda" factor of Greg Oden. Because of that, tonight's game against Oden's Trail Blazers should be even more entertaining than we had originally thought.

We're certainly not complaining about the results, post-2007 lottery, but don't think we've forgotten.
