A few short thoughts as I try to shake off a "case of the Mondays."
- I agree with the thoughts and sentiments of the Celtics players and coaches. Sam I Am is crazy, ...and I dig that about him. I don't know anyone that could keep a straight face watching him drain those three pointers and come dancing up the court to amuse the bench. Sure, it was a little crass, but only in a harmless way. Then again, I was always a fan of the Walker Wiggle, and even I have to admit that it got old after a while. Especially when he broke it out at odd moments (dancing when down by 13?). Still, I think Sam knew the situation and picked his spot wisely. He knows what it takes to win a title and I think he'll go a long way towards keeping things loose when players might feel the weight of the world on their shoulders. Oh yeah, and he can hit the occasional big shot too.
- Bob Cousy scored 16,955 regular season points. Paul Pierce now has 16,938. Just thought you'd like to know.
- If you are wondering where Danny Ainge is during all this hype, look no further than the Portsmouth Invitational and the Nike Hoop Summit, where likely 2nd rounders work to impress scouts and GMs enough to jump up to the end of the first round, where the Celtics will be picking. Few can find more gems in the late rounds better than Danny Ainge and I'm looking forward to seeing who he comes up with this year.
