Joey Dorsey: Inside Man

He doesn't know how to hit his own free throws, but when it comes to Derrick Rose's future, Joey Dorsey is apparently quite the sleuth.

The Memphis big man claims he has the inside scoop on how the top two picks of the 2008 NBA Draft will play out.

As reported by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Ira Winderman:

After a party familiar with the plans of the Bulls, who hold the No. 1 pick, and the Heat said last week, "No. 1 and No. 2 are booked and done," Memphis forward Joey Dorsey said he, too, has been led to believe that Kansas State forward Michael Beasley would go at the top of the draft to Chicago, leaving Rose for the Heat.

"Chicago's got a lot of pressure on them because Derrick's from Chicago," Dorsey said, "but they're going to take Beasley. I've got the inside. They're going to get Beasley."

Sounds good for all parties involved.

Still thinking over my official take on the top pick in the draft, but right now, I'm leaning the way Dorsey suggests it will go.  Prior to his disaster season this year, Kirk Hinrich had shown the potential to become a very effective NBA point guard, and Beasley is likely the draft's best overall talent.  He would provide the big-time scoring the Bulls have so desperately lacked and could be the sort of hybrid player that would electify this franchise.

Meanwhile, a combination of Rose, Dwyane Wade and possibly Shawn Marion could add quite a bit of energy in South Beach as well.

Don't know where Joey's getting his information from, but it sounds sensible enough for now.
