The Celtics have just announced that Lester Hudson has been waived. The rookie point guard was with the team here this morning and took part in the shootaround. By releasing him today, the Celtics do not have to guarantee his contract for the rest of the season. More importantly, it opens a roster spot the club can use down the line if necessary.
Baring a free agent pickup or trade, I wouldn't be too surprised to see Ty Lue signed to a 10 day contract one of these days. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Hudson back with the team at some point.

Hudson was scheduled to make $457,588 this season, which would seem like minimal savings for a team on pace to spend $84.7 million. So the move may be more with an eye toward opening a roster spot than to save money. The Celtics could sign Hudson to a non-guaranteed deal if he clears waivers.
Note: Carlos Arroyo will remain with the Heat through the year.
