The Boston Celtics and New York Knicks square off in preseason action for the second time in four nights tonight in Hartford, Connecticut. The Celtics outlasted the Knicks in New York's home opener at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, 104-101.

It's the second night of a back-to-back for the Celtics, as they escaped Canada last night with a 117-112 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

When these two teams met on Wednesday, fireworks erupted in the second quarter, when four technical fouls were handed out, two of which went to Kevin Garnett, who was promptly ejected. Amare Stoudemire poured in 30 points in 27 minutes, but Paul Pierce had the last laugh as he buried the game-winning jumper over Anthony Randolph with eight seconds to play (on his birthday no less).

Projected Starters

Celtics: Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Shaquille O'Neal

Knicks: Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Amare Stoudemire, Timofey Mozgov

Injuries

For the Celtics, Kendrick Perkins (knee) will not play, while Delonte West's status is uncertain, as he's still dealing with back spasms.

For the Knicks, Kelenna Azubuike (knee) and Eddy Curry (hamstring) will not play, while Bill Walker (ankle) is listed as day-to-day, although he did play in Wednesday night's tilt against Boston (and scored 11 points).

Keep An Eye On

  • The minutes of the starters. I wouldn't be surprised to see Doc give them a fair amount of rest, being it the second night of a back-to-back. At the same time, with three days off before Wednesday's preseason finale against the Nets, it wouldn't shock me to see him play them a decent number of minutes in an effort to keep them in rhythm.
