Boston Celtics (36-21) @ Detroit Pistons (21-38)

Time: Tuesday, March 3rd, 7:30PM

TV: NBATV Radio: WEEI

Venue: The Alleged "Palace" at Auburn Hills

The Line: The Celtics need a win tonight to avoid their 4th 3 game losing streak since Christmas.

The Celtics are 0-1 against Detroit this season

The Celtics are probably not in a great place mentally right now. Supposedly, they get bored out there on the court, just standing around waiting for the playoffs (PLAYOFFS?! You kiddin me?). They just lost to the Nets. They've already lost more games this season than they did in either of the previous two years. (ALREADY!)

But, you want some silver lining? Well Kevin Garnett has looked better lately. His shot has been falling and his spring seems to be coming back in spurts. Thankfully we're in the Leastern Conference, which means that the Celtics are still in 4th place in the East, and 6 games up on the Raptors for 1st in the Atlantic.

Buuuut, the Celtics did just lose to the Nets. Really no matter what the record says, of the two teams tonight the Celtics are the ones with nowhere to go but up. The only thing I wonder though is if the C's realize that.

Matchup of the Night: Rajon Rondo V Rodney Stuckey

- The last time the Pistons played the Celtics, it was a good night for Rodney Stuckey. He scored 27pts and grabbed 11 rebounds. You know who was guarding him? Rajon Rondo. You know that guy. He's an all-star. He's the league leader in steals. He's the guy who announcers on national television say is "one of the best perimeter defenders in the league". Rajon Rondo is the best player on the Celtics this season, that's not really debatable. If the Celtics want to win, they need Rajon Rondo to be the best player on the court tonight too.

3 Keys to the Game For the Good Guys:

1) Don't Let The Young Undersized But Hungry Power Forward Eat You Alive: Last time the Celtics faced the Pistons, Jason Maxiell had the one of his best games of his season. Last time the Celtics faced the Clippers, Craig Smith had one of his best games of the season. Last time the Celtics played the Spurs, Dajuan Blair had one of his best games of the season. See a pattern? The pattern is that the Celtics are getting out hustled and out muscled by young hungry undersized power forwards. This is not an issue of talent, it's and issue of energy.

2) Don't Even Think About The Word 'Playoffs': The Celtics apparently get bored on the court sometimes, because they're focused on winning in the playoffs. That's great for being focused in like...May, but it's not conducive to winning tonight.

3) Don't Stop Playing After Halftime: I believe the Celtics lead the league in blown 10 pts or better leads. At least, that's how it feels right now. We need to give FORTY-EIGHT (again, FORTY-EIGHT!!!) minutes of effort tonight. I don't care if they're playing the Lakers, the Globetrotters, or the 1984 Toronto Blue-Jays. They can lose to any one of them if they quit after halftime. Ask the Nets (last time I mention it, I promise.). They need all forty-eight minutes. (FORTY EIGHT MINUTES!!!!!)

Bonus Key to the Game: I know times are tough now, fellow C's fans. I know this. I'm frustrated too. However, if you think that we're getting down about it, think about how the guys on the team are taking it. We have the luxury of lamenting every missed rebound, every poor pass, and every ill-advised 3pt attempt taken by Rasheed Wallace oh my god why won't he just post up for an entire game? Would it kill him? Come on Sheed, Perkins is out tonight, for once let's see if you can go a whole game without jacking up a 3. Please! but they don't have that luxury. The Celtics need to forget about all that garbage, and they need to play for tonight, for a quality win. So Celtics, if you're reading this (you're not), forget about it. Tonight is your night. Let me see that hustle, boys!
