According to Sports Illustrated's Zach Lowe, the NBA determined that the following play wasn't actually a Rajon Rondo assist:
Mostly because it wasn't. Or even close.
After the rescinded assist, Rondo will now be credited with 12 assists last night, instead of his original 13. I only hope this phantom assist was an innocent error, rather than a hometown scorekeeper looking to inflate Rondo's stats. Don't get me wrong -- I'm all for gaudy assist totals. But I prefer legitimate assists, rather than the "pass to the guy who passes to the guy who makes a move before scoring" type.
