I'm calling the race, the votes are in and the hanging chads have been counted. Paul Pierce is the winner of the 4th best Celtics player community rankings. Bob Cousy will likely now grow a beard and talk about carbon footprints.
This is the first ranking that I don't personally agree with, but that's ok. That's part of the fun. Pierce is one of the all time greats and has already played a long career with the Celtics and has delivered one title so far. Tommy has called him the best offensive Celtic ever, and that says a lot. You could make an argument that the modern game is more athletic and sophisticated so Pierce should get more credit than Cousy. I can see that side.
Of course the flipside is that Cousy was a pioneer and revolutionized the point guard position. He's still on the Mt. Rushmore of point guards of all time all this many years later. But that's an argument for yesterday.
So now we open up the voting once again. Is it Cousy or will the Pierce voters pick someone else? See the full list after the jump.
Note: I'm going to start showing pictures of the prior vote's winners instead of who I think should win that day. I also need folks to suggest names to add to the poll each time. I'd put them all in there but it would take up too much space (and take too much time).
