Ray Allen Out With "Jammed" Ankle

If there's one thing this team doesn't need is injuries. Unfortunately, sometimes you just can't avoid them.

Gary Washburn tweets

Ray Allen has a jammed left ankle and it is uncertain whether he will return #celtics

Ray Allen will not return today with a jammed left ankle #celtics

Allen had double ankle surgery in 2006-07 that cost him the final 27 games of the season. Hasn't had any ankle trouble since them #celtics

Obviously Ray's effectiveness is predicated upon being able to run and get lift off his feet. He's bee the most consistently good player on the Celtics this year, so losing him for any stretch wouldn't be a good thing.

Rajon Rondo is still day to day and Keyon Dooling still isn't back in the lineup, so expect to see some more of rookie E'Twaun Moore and today's starter Avery Bradley (who has looked solid the last few games)

Update: Twitter / @gwashburn14

Ray allen said there's no swelling. Just tightness. X-ray negative. Will try to play tomorrow #Celtics
