Dionte Christmas and Jamar Smith cut from the Celtics roster according to NBA source. #celticstalk PGL at 7p

This is surprising news really. When Keyon Dooling retired, there was some thought that even with the addition of Darko Milicic, the Celtics would be able to carry two unguaranteed contracts into the season as their 14th and 15th men. Dionte had become a fan/blog favorite and was a shoe-in for one of those spots. He seemed like a Celtic from day one, but he's performed poorly in the preseason games and my guess is that he didn't fulfill the back-up point guard need in practices either. It's a brutal business, but by getting let go early, he'll have a chance to join another team or continue his career overseas.
Now, the question is: will Danny fill out the last spot with someone that's currently in training camp (Micah Downs?), pick up a vet like Derek Fisher or Leandro Barbosa, or leave it open for a mid-season addition? Could Keyon Dooling be coming out of retirement?!
