Here's the story from our SBNation friends over at MavsMoneyball.com:
Rumor has Mavericks cutting ties with West, signing Eddie Curry
West was suspended earlier today, his second suspension in a week. His first suspension was supposedly due to an argument about playing time and his role on the team, but was resolved within a day. West played in two preseason games since then.
Speaking to Tim MacMahon, West pleaded innocent to the latest suspension, saying he was being blamed for an argument between two of his teammates.
With Kris Joseph being told yesterday that he's made the final 15, Danny would have to get creative to bring on West. KJ's contract is non-guaranteed until January, so theoretically, he could be stashed away in Maine. I could be wrong, but if the team cuts ties with Joseph, he could sign a contract with the Red Claws, but then the Celtics would no longer have any proprietary rights to him; he'd be just another player in the NBDL trying to make it to the NBA.
Obviously, bringing in Delonte is a risk, but he has a very close relationship with Doc and has a real appreciation for the organization. He knows the system and is a purer point guard than anybody currently coming off the bench. It's a curious proposition, but with the addition of Leandro Barbosa last week and Avery Bradley's recovery progressing ahead of schedule, it's doubtful.
