Celtics final score: Celtics edge Wizards, 89-86

As the team continues to talk about finding chemistry and finding a sense of urgency, it feels like they're already in mid-season form. Tonight's defense smothered a Wall-less Washington team, forcing 15 turnovers and 44% shooting.

Rondo, Pierce, and Garnett recognized the need for the team to avoid an 0-3 start. Rondo finished with 12 points and 12 assists (with two threes), PP was 10-22 from the field and led the team with 27 points, and KG with 15 and 7 rebounds. Jeff Green ramped up his activity with 11 points.

Jared Sullinger started for Brandon Bass and neither were standouts in the box score. Sullinger pulled down seven rebounds and Bass grabbed five with two blocks.

The key was the defense down the stretch. Over the final three minutes of the game, Boston's D held Washington scoreless.
