As if we didn't already have enough problems with big man depth.
Wilcox could miss three to four weeks
Boston Celtics big man Chris Wilcox could miss three to four weeks, Doc Rivers projected, with an ulnar collateral sprain in his right thumb. Wilcox suffered the injury during last Tuesday's game against the Chicago Bulls. He will not travel with the Celtics on the upcoming road trip.
Hey, Earl Barron just got cut, ...from the Wizards. Ugh. Don't count on triple double Fab Melo to be called up though.
Notes from practice: Wilcox could miss a month -Celtics blog - Boston Globe basketball news
Rivers said 2012 first-round pick Fab Melo is not a candidate to be called up despite blocking an NBADL record 14 shots for Maine Saturday against Erie.
But at least there is a sense that the team is looking around for big help.
Rivers admits the Celtics need another big man. "You would think (we would sign someone)," he said. "But obviously that's the one position where they don't grow on trees. We just have to be patient. Obviously we need another big (man) with Chris being out. I don't know if we're going to get another big on this (four-game) trip."
