Day off for Pierce, KG, Terry - Boston Celtics Blog - ESPN Boston
Celtics coach Doc Rivers gave veterans Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry the day off, while Leandro Barbosa is battling an illness. With two rookies in the D-League and Avery Bradley still on the mend, that left seven potential bodies available for Boston during its afternoon session.
"Right now with (Garnett) out (of practice) everybody’s got to step up. When (Garnett) is not on the floor, I might not be on the floor or we might have other guys on the floor, we’ve all got to learn to communicate and talk to each other. That’s what we came in here to do, to try and get on the same page and work on our communication."
Wilcox block highlights skeleton practice - Boston Celtics Blog - ESPN Boston
The Celtic have leaned on veteran Jason Collins as the first big off the bench the last two games while easing the workload on Wilcox. Both players got a chance for extra practice reps on Monday with veterans like Kevin Garnett taking the day off. "It was good, because guys that come off the bench, we got a chance to kind of get things that we needed to fix fixed and we got a chance to go through some palys that we needed to work on," said Wilcox. "We had a good practice today."
Hopefully the T-Wolves game will put us on the right track. Glad the old guys got some needed rest and the "kids" got some extra practice. Best of both worlds (in theory).
