Celtics Need Sense Of Urgency, Blah Blah Blah

Forgive me if I sound cynical, but I've heard these words enough in the past few years and haven't seen the requisite actions to take them all that seriously.

"I said at the beginning of the year that this is a year of urgency," coach Doc Rivers said. "It really is. This is the way it is. "It’s a year of urgency, and you can see that some teams attacked the season, and some teams — and we were one of them — kind of joined the season. This second half there will be more urgency every single game. There’s just not a lot of games left. And even games when you’re banged up you’ve just got to figure a way of trying to hold on and steal games. I think that’ll be the way for everybody."

It is Doc's job to talk to the media, and I don't fault him for saying any of this. If anything, I'm right in his corner. But what I'm sick of is hearing this and not seeing the team step up and put it to work on the court the way they should. I know all the excuses, but at the end of the day, they just don't always give their best effort and that is inexcusable.

I'm more amped by what KG said. Basically, "step up or step aside" (though I'm sure he inserted a few words that we don't allow on this site).
