This is not what anyone wanted to hear.
Chris Wilcox is out indefinitely after the results from routine cardiac tests showed a need for additional tests to be performed. Wilcox is expected to meet with team doctors early next week, which means he will not play in tomorrow's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, or Monday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Several quick reactions to this.
- First and foremost, hope he is alright and gets any treatment necessary. If it turns out to be nothing, great. If it is something to be concerned about, hope and pray that he makes a full recovery. Obviously details are still very vague.
- Second: What is it with this organization and heart issues? I'm not trying to be glib here but first Reggie (RIP) then Jeff Green, now this? Just an odd coincidence. If nothing else, I hope this means that the team is just picking up issues because they are sensitive to it but I'm even less of a doctor than Doc Rivers, so what do I know?
- Third (and a selfish, distant third) this only hurts the Celtics depth in the middle that much more.
Of course, more updates will be passed along as they become available.
