(SB Nation Boston, Gethin Coolbaugh) With the trade deadline now less than one week away, the rumors are being pumped out at double time. The latest from the Boston Celtics' trade front is that the team is reportedly prepared to entertain trade rumors for the captain, Paul Pierce.
The Celtics are prepared to entertain offers for Paul Pierce, whose subtraction from the Boston core would be the most advantageous to the post-Big Three rebuilding effort given his age (34) and the $32 million he's owed over the next two seasons. And for those same reasons, he'll be the most difficult of Boston's top four players to move. (via Ken Berger/CBS Sports)
Pierce would be a nice fit for any contender, starting or coming off the bench. Pierce has been playing his best basketball of the season as of late, which only bumps up his value. Pierce is averaging 18.3 points, 5.1 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 35 games this season.
