It's late in the day and I ain't been on the court yet
Hustle to the mall to get me a short set
Yeah I got on sneaks but I need a new pair
Cause basketball courts in the summer got girls there
Thank you Will Smith for a jam that will be on my rotation every year about this time for the rest of time.
Anyway, I digress. Taking a break from the seedings and playoff race and retirement talk and windows open or closed. The summer is coming and the Celtics are going to be involved once again. Not once, but twice.
Taxing NBA schedule has some paying the price - The Boston Globe
The NBA announced that the Las Vegas Summer League is returning after a one-year hiatus. The cancellation caused by the NBA lockout last summer may encourage the Celtics to have entries in both the Orlando Summer League, which will take place at the Magic’s practice court, and the Las Vegas Summer League, where the Celtics haven’t had a team since the days of Gerald Green. With potentially two first-round picks, and E’Twaun Moore and JaJuan Johnson desperately needing experience, the Celtics could benefit from summer league play.
At one point this was like Christmas in the summer for Celtics fans (Summertime by Will Smith would be the Christmas Carol in that analogy). It was the perpetual hope of tomorrow.
Well, we're kind of stuck between enjoying the now and dreaming of tomorrow and this summer will be all about that transition (or lack thereof, we'll have to wait and see). In addition to the rookies and two first rounders, we'll also probably have a couple of second rounders and maybe even a few undrafted free agents and D-League graduates (the next Stiemboat could be out there somewhere). Getting two weeks to see them is a bonus. Looking forward to it.
There's an air of love and happiness
And this is the Fresh Prince's new definition of Summer madness.
