Rumor: Celtics Pursuing Jason Terry And Other Ray Allen Replacements

Will the Jet fly into Logan?

If rumors are to be believed, the Celtics have made replacing Ray Allen's shooting as a priority. Avery Bradley could still be the starter next year, but he doesn't (yet) have the ability to stretch the floor the way Ray Allen does. You could ask "does anyone?" and be perfectly right. However, if there's one guy that comes close, it is Jason Terry.

Celtics pursuing Mavs free agent Jason Terry - Yahoo! Sports

Faced with the possibility of losing Ray Allen, the Boston Celtics are pursuing Dallas Mavericks free-agent guard Jason Terry, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Celtics are preparing themselves for the possible loss of Allen, and began the process of recruiting Terry after midnight ET Saturday, league sources said. The Mavericks still have interest in re-signing Terry. The Los Angeles Clippers also have emerged as suitors, sources said. The Celtics also have interest in Los Angeles Clippers free agent guard Nick Young, sources said.

As a bonus, Terry is already a star coming off the bench, so the fit would be perfect for the Celtics. He would provide that instant offense that we've needed from the bench unit. How much Terry is interested and how much it would take to land him is not clear though. But I think the Celtics probably put a good foot forward by reaching out after midnight to him.

Nick Young is a new name to the list as well. He's a one way player and had strong ties to Gilbert Arenas (red flags!) but he can fill up a box score off the bench.

Terry and Young join the other two shooting guards that the Celtics have already shown interest in.

However, the Celtics aren't the only one's with options.

Note: @JCrossover is Jamal Crawford

Like a high stakes game of dosey-do, we'll see which free agents couple up with which teams as the days and weeks pass. Promenade!
