Quick Jason Terry Update: Donnie Nelson Bids Farewell

Jason Terry wanted to leave the door open for the Mavericks to match the Celtics offer (reportedly the Mavs offered more dollars per year but only two years while the Celtics gave him 3 years). His final decision should come tonight because it sounds like the Mavs have moved on.

Mavs president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson, moments after Deron Williams broke the news that he will re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets, all but bid Terry farewell. "What Jet did for this city and franchise will never be forgotten," Nelson said. "He's one of the greatest clutch performers in the history of our game and even a better person. We wish him nothing but the very best."

We'll give you word if/when this becomes final - or agreed in principle at least. The signing can't happen till the free agent moratorium lifts and the Celtics have to fill up the cap space with other free agents before they can officially sign anyone to the Mid Level, but once it is agreed in principle, it is pretty much a done deal.

Now, how about Ray Allen?
