A few days back we released a new logo that will be introduced on the site when we upgrade. So far, we haven't been able to tell you much about the upgrades but now we've been given the green light to show off a few screen shots of some other sites that will have the same basic look and feel.
Before we look forward, it might also be helpful to look back at our history. We've never been shy about changing things up and moving forward. Change requires an adjustment period, but I refuse to stand idle as the industry moves forward.
This upgrade (which is being called "SBNation United") is a major step forward for the blog and the whole network and it is something that I'm personally very excited about. This is one of the big perks of being part of the SBNation community - getting access to some really advanced technical solutions developed in house by folks who really "get" blogging and sports and sports fans like you.
So what are we talking about here? Here are some key advantages to the new infrastructure that impacts you. Thik of this as the SBNation United brochure. You'll get the real deal "real soon."
- SB Nation United is going to make our sites load faster and run better meaning you can get to the content you want faster.
- SB Nation United is going to make sure that you're seeing the best and brightest content up front with our flexible layout, modern design and reduction of clutter.
- SB Nation United is going to make the experience on our sites run seamlessly from every platform, whether mobile, tablet or computer. No matter where you are, the experience will not change.
- SB Nation United will not take away or change any of the community elements you love like FanPosts and FanShots and GameThreads (and forums!)
But enough lead in, after the break see some screen shots of what the site will look like (if you squint and picture them with green and white colors.
The Cover: This will be at the top and highlighting the main stories for the day. This is very flexible so there are various ways to show the content. Here are 3 examples:
Below the cover is the usual stream of articles you expect from a blog (they call this "the river"). See a full page example here (you may have to view save this pic and view it separately to see the details):
We'll be introducing something called "StoryStreams" that allow you to find all the recent updates on an event or news story as it develops in one place (these are used already on SBNation.com and the regional sites):
Also, another big step forward is the views on mobile devices.
I know this is a lot of change, but that's why we are releasing these images ahead of time - to ease you into the changes and get you used to the new look before it arrives. This is big, huge news and a bigtime advance forward for the site.
What obviously will not be changing is the important stuff, like the content from yours truly and my awesome staff and the passion that we all share for the Celtics. Thanks again for your support.
