The Celtics close out their preseason tonight as they host the Brooklyn Nets. This will be the second meeting between the two teams, but this meeting will be a bit different. The Celtics will not face Paul Pierce in this one, but they will see Jason Terry, who will make his preseason debut tonight.
The Celtics lost by just 2 points in their first meeting with the Nets, and hopefully they will be energized coming into their final preseason game and will go into the regular season on a high note. Gerald Wallace set the table for the Celtics effort tonight with this quote: "Preseason is done for us. This is the start of our regular season right here. We’ve got to come out like we want to win every game."
There's no telling who Brad will start. One of the key matchups would be at center. Jared Sullinger, who has started at center, would be undersized against Brook Lopez. I'd like to see Vitor Faverani get his chance to see what he can do against Lopez.
After their last game, Gerald Wallace had some strong words for his team, calling them out for lack of effort. According to coach Stevens, they responded with one of their best practices of the preseason on Tuesday. How they respond in this game will have a lot to say about them as a team. I expect them to play with energy and effort in this one.
Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett will sit this one out for rest, and so their first trip back in the regular season will have more meaning. On the other hand, Jason Terry is expected to make his preseason debut in this game against his former team.
Keith Bogans practiced on Tuesday and will be a game time decision for this game. Phil Pressey is expected to return to the rotation after sitting out the past 2 games with a sprained ankle. Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko will be out for the Nets as will Tornike Shengelia. Considering how short handed the Nets will be, the Celtics have no excuse not to win this game.
