Let the countdown begin: Rondo 10-14 days away from meeting with Dr. Andrews

New, comments

According to the Globe's Baxter Holmes, Rajon Rondo is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews in the next two weeks to check on the progress of his ACL surgery.

So maybe we need to push back the welcome home party a week or two.  Yesterday, I predicted/hoped Rondo would be seeing Andrews this week or next, but it looks like that check up won't be happening for another 10-14 days.  From the Globe's Baxter Holmes:

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is scheduled to head to Florida within the next 10 to 14 days to meet with Dr. James Andrews, who performed surgery on Rondo's right knee.

"It has nothing to do with Rondo's health and it's not like a final straw or anything," Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Wednesday. "It's just a checkup that they've scheduled for the beginning of December. It's been on the calendar for a while."

Celtics team doctor Brian McKeon will also make the trip with Rondo, and together with Andrews, those two will likely determine the next step in the rehabilitation process for Rondo, Ainge said.

If he's cleared for contact then, he'll probably need at least another two weeks of practice.  Tankspiracy theorists will suggest that pushing back Rondo's return signals a bit of a white flag by the franchise, but Ainge has been adamant that Rajon is part of the team's future and there's no reason to rush him back.
