You knew this was coming. Teams are going to be interested in trading for Rajon Rondo. They'll make the calls and chances are, despite public protests to the contrary, Ainge is always going to listen.
Scout.com: Sources: Mavs In Trade Talks For Rondo
The Mavericks are engaging in trade talks involving Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, sources tell DallasBasketball.com. Meanwhile, Dallas has taken a position on Chris Paul and is also investigating bids on point guards Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings
I don't have a subscription to tell you what else they are saying about a potential deal, but the term "engaging in talks" does sound more than just one-way interest. I'm not overly familiar with this DallasBasketball.com site either, but I've seen them with trade rumors in the past, so we'll see.
Update: I have seen the article and I won't quote it out of respect for their subscription policy, but I can tell you that it doesn't have a lot of information beyond Ainge telling the Mavericks that they are not interested in trading Rondo and the Mavs pursuing the conversation anyway. As I said, Ainge will always listen.
For the sake of discussion, is there a package from Dallas that you would be interested in? Keep in mind that Dallas just drafted Shane Larkin and Ricky Ledo - two players that the Celtics showed a good amount of interest in leading up to the draft.
The Mavericks are also looking to shed short term salary for a run at Dwight Howard, so you would have to imagine that Shaun Marion's deal would be involved somehow.
The rumor mill never stops this time of year.
Multiple updates:
Mavs would love having Rajon Rondo to chase Dwight Howard, but Boston needs Dallas to take multiple contracts off its books, sources say.

As http://t.co/RaBdzfDk2O says, Celts/Mavs talked some Rondo. Celtics like Larkin, but how do Mavs take contracts and keep space for Howard?

Mavs undeniably fans of Rondo, as @fishsports reported, but "trade talks" to this point have gone nowhere because Celts want only one Mav

Mavs: We're interested in Rondo. Celts: We want Dirk. So: More teams gotta jump in or Boston gotta budge for meaningful talks to take place

Even after ACL tear, Boston asking a lot for Rondo. Yet as we discussed Friday AM on @MikeAndMike, teams out there DO think Rondo next to go

Yup. Kinda what I expected. Ainge always willing to listen, but he'll (as usual) ask for the moon and go from there. He was willing to take a lot less than the moon for Pierce and Garnett, but he might hold out for a comet or two for Rondo.
