I warned you that there would be rumors like this. Teams want Rajon Rondo and they think the Celtics could be convinced to sell low on him because of our situation. Dallas was the first one that we heard about and now there's more rumblings about Detroit's interest.
The Pistons are quite interested in Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, but they don’t have a package to offer that would attract president of basketball operations Danny Ainge to making a deal. The Celtics would presumably ask for emerging center Andre Drummond, who is as close to untouchable as a younger player can get. Detroit would like to send the Celtics Brandon Knight and an expiring contract, but that wouldn’t be nearly enough. Detroit doesn’t have a first-round pick to offer because of the Ben Gordon deal that gave the Bobcats the choice of a Pistons draft pick over the next four seasons
They simply are not getting Rondo in a salary dump move. It isn't happening unless there's some real behind the scenes issues that we don't know about (and even then it would be silly to sell so low). I don't really know what Drummond's upside is but if the Pistons want Rondo they can't realistically make anyone on their roster "untouchable."
I guess part of it is the fact that I'm a Rondo fan and I don't want him to go. But all the trade proposals involving Rondo just get an eyeroll and stiff-arm from me. I don't care and I can't be bothered to think about it If something happens I'll be forced to deal with it but until then I'm going to enjoy Rondo's progression into the next phase of his career.
