It sounds like Keyon Dooling will be signing with someone soon. I can't help but wonder if one of his options might be Boston.
NBA free agency rumors: DeJuan Blair interested in Wizards, Mo Evans heading overseas - SBNation.com
Dooling, a 13-year veteran of the league, is drawing serious interest from two teams and expects to sign within a week. Neither of the teams were mentioned, although it does not seem likely that he returns to Memphis to play another season with the Grizzlies. Dooling appeared in just seven games last season, averaging 4.4 points per game in just over 11 minutes. Before joining Memphis, he spent a year in Boston and Milwaukee. He isn't much more than a bench player at this point in his career, although he's regarded as a positive influence in the locker room and could be a helpful piece for a young, rebuilding squad.
I'd love to see Dooling brought in to reprise his role as Rondo mentor and veteran backup point guard. He has said in the past the he wants to be a coach when his playing days are over, and where better to get his feet wet than with a young coaching staff? I could see him having a very positive impact on Phil Pressey and the rest of the team as well.
I have no rumors linking Dooling to the Celtics and it would likely mean cutting loose or trading an additional player off the roster to make room for him, but it you never know.
