Rajon Rondo: "I Wouldn't Mind Staying Here the Rest of my Career"

Ainge offered Rondo star money. He'll take it.

BOSTON - Rajon Rondo would like to extend his stay for another 10 years in Boston. Or 20 or whatever. Talking before the Celtics hosted a Slim Reaper-less Oklahoma City Thunder, Rondo told the media that he isn't looking to leave Boston any time soon.

"I like to stick to the script. I don't like change much," Rondo said. "I wouldn't mind staying here the rest of my career. Things don't happen always seem to go that way, but like I said before, its just a business, but obviously I wouldn't mind extending another 10 years, if possible."

Rondo marveled at the idea of signing a Magic Johnson-like 20-year deal, but joked that they'd have to change the rules to pull that one off. After Danny Ainge disclosed Thursday on the Toucher & Rich Show on 98.5 The Sports Hub that he made an extension offer to Rondo, the question of Rondo's value and future have been revived.

"I haven't really thought about [the offer]," Rondo said. "It happened a long time ago. I think it was maybe two or three weeks ago. I think that it hit the news yesterday or a couple days ago. I never tell you guys anything, yet you seem to find a way."

Rondo then asked a media member to tell him how much he was offered, to which CLNS Radio replied that Ainge said it would be, "Star money."

"That's from Danny?" Rondo said. "I'm making star money now, really. It's a pretty good living." When told that star money could mean the max, Rondo coyly replied, "I'll let my agent handle that."

There's a strong possibility that a deal isn't signed until next season, but it is apparent from Ainge's comments that Rondo's injury will have little bearing on the team's valuation.
