It's official. For what it's worth, our 2nd round draft pick goes to Memphis and the Grizzlies send two conditional second rounders to OKC. Ryan Gomes was included in the trade to Boston and immediately waived.
As previously discussed, the trade opens up some cap space for this year and this summer, but let's not sleep on Bayless. As well as Courtney Lee had been playing, Bayless' skill set might actually end up being a better fit in Steven's system. He may not be a better shooter than Lee, but Bayless is better off the dribble and could be a better creator/facilitator for the bigs. Word is, he was in Denver last night with the team and might be available for tonight's game against the Nuggets. He'll take Lee's #11 for the rest of the season.
There's speculation that with the trade season now in motion, Brandon Bass could be next to go and with MarShon Brooks tearing up the D-League, a call-up could be coming soon. With Cleveland turning Bynum's contract into Luol Deng, the Cavaliers could conceivably vault themselves from the lottery into contention and replace the Bulls in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Celtics will play four games in five nights all on the road with three of them coming against the West's best.
