Rumor: Celtics interested in Gordon Hayward

A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE is reporting that the Celtics are interested in bringing in Gordon Hayward. The question is: how?

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

We've heard this flirtation before.  Brad Stevens coached Gordon Hayward at Butler and there have been rumblings that a reunion in Boston was possible.  Hayward, like Avery Bradley, will enter this summer as a restricted free agent and if Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey thinks that Hayward's price tag will be too high to match, he might be willing to deal him before this Thursday's deadline.  But there's a hitch:

It would appear the one thing that might nudge Utah towards giving serious thought to dealing Hayward, would be if the Celtics were willing to part with at least one of their stockpiled first-round picks.

But two league sources, both having had recent conversations with the Celtics, told CSNNE.com on Tuesday that Boston is "very reluctant" to part with any of their first-round picks in facilitating a deal.

Blakely also mentions that Utah isn't interested in Jeff Green and won't consider Rajon Rondo with only a year left on his contract.  The Celtics are at EnergySolutions on Monday.  Brad Stevens will be there, Gordon Hayward will be there, but it's doubtful they'll both be in Celtics green.
