Unfortunately the Celtics did not win the NBA Lottery and in fact got pushed down one spot to pick 6th. Unbelievably the Cleveland Cavs won the Lottery again and will be picking 1st.
This isn't the worst thing that could have happened. In fact, it was the most likely scenario. But it is another Lottery night disappointment.
To put it mildly, this hurts. We traded Pierce and KG for a chance to rebuild and part of that plan was to get a high lottery pick. We put up with "tanking" talk all year. We waited through all that ...for the 6th pick in a 3 player draft.
I mean, we can only pout and complain so much. I mean, 17 banners means never being able to say that we're a "hard luck" franchise. But that doesn't mean it doesn't sting a bit.
Here's hoping that history will repeat itself from 2007. The Kevin Love watch begins (in earnest) now.
