In case you haven't heard, Marcus Smart is a good defender. In fact, he is respected enough by his peers to be voted the best rookie defender.
Peers Vote Marcus Smart Best Rookie Defender - Celtics Blog - Boston.com
Celtics rookie Marcus Smart was voted best defender among rookies by his fellow first-year players, according to an NBA.com survey. Smart tied with Philadelphia's K.J. McDaniels with 13.5 percent of the vote, besting fellow guards Gary Harris and Elfrid Payton.
Sounds like he might be a long shot for rookie of the year (if this voting is any indication).
Smart, the sixth pick, also received votes for most likely to win Rookie of the Year, but did not finish in the Top 6 in that category. Jabari Parker, Doug McDermott, Andrew Wiggins, Shabazz Napier, Nerlens Noel and Elfrid Payton did.
He was also voted 2nd funniest, behind twitter comedian Joel Embiid. See the full list here.
