ESPN sources also say that the Sixers have claimed Chris Johnson off waivers— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) September 28, 2014
While it's great to see Chris Johnson get a look in Philly, it's a shame that the roster math didn't work out for him to get a chance to make it in Boston's training camp. He never played with KG, but he was all grit and balls. So now, with the waiving of JLIII and Malcolm Thomas, the Celtics have enough room to finally sign Evan Turner and re-sign Chris Watkins to a camp invite and bring the training camp roster to 20. There will still need to be cuts by the start of the regular season, but the Celtics do have the option to assign three players to the Maine Red Claws and have them affiliated with the team.
