Remember when the Bulls were just a defensive team? Those were the days. This team can score in bunches and while the Celtics were able to get their points, you can tell that when Thibs' team wants to get stops, they can still lock down with the best of them
This game could have been a complete blowout based purely on talent level, but I gotta give the Celtics credit because they fought hard and stayed in the game for a good 3 and a half quarters. Jared Sullinger and Brandon Bass each did some great work scoring inside and out. Kelly Olynyk had a nice all around game (missing a double double by one rebound). Tyler Zeller even broke out of his mini slump with 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting.
But it wasn't enough to stay ahead of the Bulls, who were led by their stars. Derrick Rose looked like the MVP of a few years back with 29 points. Pau Gasol looked spry with 20 points of his own. And new star Jimmy Butler added 22 points, which he worked for in a variety of ways. They also got some solid contributions from old friend E'Twaun Moore.
A key stat in this game: The Bulls generated 12 steals, many of which led to fast break buckets. Another key stat: The Bulls made over half their 3's (13-25 for 52%).
Bottom line: The Celtics showed some good moxy, but the Bulls are just a better team right now.
