There's just one week left of preseason and that means limited time for a guy like Perry Jones III to make a strong impression. He hasn't had a lot of time on the court yet, but that should change this week.
Celtics notebook: Time not on Jones’ side now | Boston Herald
After playing seven minutes in the team’s exhibition opener in Milan, and missing the next game in Madrid after returning home from Italy to attend the funeral of a cousin, he played nine minutes last Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets and never left the bench Friday against the New York Knicks. "That was just (Friday night)," coach Brad Stevens said. "I played Perry a lot early on. I just wanted James (Young) to get a few more minutes. Perry will play this upcoming week."
If Jones fails to impress, then the team might just waive him when rosters have to be cut down on Saturday. If he shows enough to earn himself a longer look, then the team might have to look elsewhere for cuts or make a move to shed a guaranteed contract.
According to former GM Bobby Marks, this is the week when teams start discussing moves.
