The Celtics announced that Isaiah Thomas will not travel with the team on their road trip this week, so the earliest he might be able to play is next Sunday.
Isaiah Thomas: 'I gotta get healthy' - Boston Celtics Blog - ESPN Boston
A day after Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Thomas will likely be sidelined until at least Sunday's game against the Detroit Pistons, Thomas admitted there's been little progress in his recovery. "I can’t really do any activity right now, but I’m just trying to get back," Thomas said during a call to Boston sports radio WEEI. "[Trying to] get healthy enough so we can have a good stretch at the end of this year."
It has been tough for him to miss the time but he's trying to get his body right in time for the stretch run.
Thomas admits it’s been hard to miss time, especially against good teams, but knows his health is the most important thing. "It is, but at the same time I have to do what is best for myself," said Thomas. "I have to do what is best for myself and try and get as healthy as possible. All the best players they want to go against the best players, so I am upset I have to miss this, but it is for the sake of my health and I have to get healthy."
