UPDATE 8:00 pm: Olynyk plays! Gets in there and has five quick points. No word yet as to whether he saw any of them.

Update 7:05 pm: Olynyk took the floor and shot decently well with his left eye swelling shut. He will apparently need to wear protective goggles if he wants to play Wednesday, but he did not warm up with the goggle on. No word yet as to whether he will play.

BOSTON – Kelly Olynyk took an elbow to his left eye during his pregame workout and will be out against the Indiana Pacers. Olynyk, who visited on Ophthalmologist after the injury, will make way for more minutes for Jonas Jerebko, who has been in and out of the rotation since his hot start after the trade deadline. "Kelly was playing his typical one-on-one pregame with Shavlik [Randolph] and got elbowed in the eye," Celtics coach Brad Stevens said. "His eye blew up, so he went to the Ophthalmologist to get sutured up and hopefully get some swelling down."

The injury sounded a bit gruesome according to the coach. "It just swelled up right away. I’d say he’s very unlikely [Wednesday night], but I have not heard final word from [trainer Ed Lacerte] or the doctor." Stevens went on to say that Olynyk’s eye "exploded," but he "didn’t get the impression that he was in a ton of pain."

"That's what happens when you try to mess with Shav," Jonas Jerebko joked.

No word yet on whether Kelly will have to trim his hair to save his eye…
