Daily standings watch: Celtics hang on to 7th place

Magic number down to 2.

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Celtics did their part last night, beating the Cavs.  Of course the Nets also won last night, so they remain in lock step with each other with Boston holding the tie-breaker over Brooklyn.

Scoreboard Watching (games of note):

Celtics (37-42) beat Cavs (51-28), 99-90
Nets (37-42) beat Wizards (45-34), 117-80
Pacers (36-43) beat Pistons (30-49), 107-103

Current Standings:

6. Bucks (39-40)
7. Celtics (37-42)
8. Nets (37-42)
9. Pacers (36-43)
10. Heat (35-44)

Tonight's Key Games:

Raptors (47-32) at Heat (35-44)

Tiebreakers (via Forsberg):

Boston owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Brooklyn (won season series, 3-1)
Miami owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Boston (won season series, 3-1)
Boston owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Indiana (won season series, 3-1)
Boston and Charlotte split their head-to-head series (2-2); the next tiebreaker is conference record (Boston is currently 24-24, Charlotte is 25-23)

What to watch for:

The Cavaliers took a rather, ...um, cavalier attitude towards last night's game.  We'll see how serious they are tomorrow night.  Either way, it is the Celtics' job to win the games on the schedule, no matter how seriously the opponent is taking it.
