BOSTON – Depth perception is for suckers.
The Celtics got a crucial win in their chase for the eighth seed, as a one-eyed Kelly Olynyk scored a team-high 19 points in a 100-87 victory.
Olynyk was elbowed in the eye by teammate Shavlik Randolph during pregame warm ups and required four stitches. As his left eye swelled shut, so did his chances of playing Wednesday night.
But Kelly Aaaaarghlynyk went through his shooting routine just before tip and decided to give it a go. As if you needed further proof that he is Canadian, Olynyk went out there with one eye to go 3-for-4 from deep in just 22 minutes.
Evan Turner recorded his third triple-double of the month, proving once again the value of the Rajon Rondo trade. Tyler Zeller tied Olynyk with a team-high 19 points, going an incredible 8-for-9 from the field.
The Celtics go two games ahead of the Indiana Pacers in the race for the eight seed, but remain half a game behind the Brooklyn Nets after their win over the New York Knicks Wednesday.
