The fault in our lack of stars, Celtics fall to Cavs 91-99

LeBron and Kyrie were too much.

Credit the Celtics for hanging in there and fighting back when they were down, but the end result is the same.  LeBron James and Kyrie Irving combined for 56 of the Cavs 99 points and all of their points in the the 4th.  That proved to be too much for the Celtics team game.

Once again, the Celtics came out strong and won the 1st quarter.  You could even make the case that they out-played the Cavs in the first half.  But a few quick runs gave the Cavs the lead at the midway point and a big surge in the 3rd gave them the lead that they never gave up again.  Then down the stretch it was all LeBron and Kyrie Irving.

The closest thing the Celtics have to a star is Isaiah Thomas and he chipped in with 22 points.  Beyond that, the Celtics had 6 other players with at least 8 points.  Brad Stevens had them well coached up but this one boiled down to pure talent and Cleveland simply had more of it.
