Bill Simmons, the native of Massachusetts long known as "The Boston Sports Guy", has decided to leave ESPN after his contract expires in September -- which will surely make this summer and the next NBA season just a little more interesting. Simmons has yet to comment on what his next venture might be, but don't worry ... we've already made plans for him.
He's welcome to fill out an application. https://t.co/Ccj5L1oxuu

Bill Simmons is welcome to write for CelticsBlog, but first he has to unblock me on twitter. (I think he blanket blocked bloggers yrs ago)

Simmons was a pioneer for bloggers and he paved the way for a lot of us. Always have a lot of respect for that.

I think Simmons just felt like his run at ESPN was over. He is always trying to try something new. Not all of it works but a lot of it does.

BTW, if ESPN wants to pay a Boston-biased guy to head up Grantland, write, and do podcasts, I'm willing to work for 50% of Simmons' salary.

Aside from his obvious welcome here, what do you all see as the next step for Bill?
