With the 14th pick in the CelticsBlog community mock draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder select...Cameron Payne!
The Thunder have had close ties with the point guard from Murray State for a while. Supposedly, they promised that they would draft him if he falls this deep. With Payne, OKC has a reliable backup to Westbrook who can also play alongside him. Payne is smart, first and foremost, and he has a knack for finding the open man.
Up next is the Atlanta Hawks, who received this pick from Brooklyn. After a surprisingly successful regular season, the Hawks landed the number one seed in the playoffs but were swept by the Cavaliers in the Conference Finals. This sweep may have been a product of all the injuries Atlanta suffered, but they did not look like the regular season Hawks in this series.
The Hawks are at risk of losing All Star forward Paul Millsap and DeMarre Carroll, but they will likely re-sign both. If they do lose one of the two, they will need to fill the forward spot with a high energy player. Bobby Portis may be the number one candidate because of his size and potential; he would also be the best player available at the 15th pick.
Who would you pick?
