Celtics Summer League Schedule Released

The dates and opponents of Boston's slate of games over the summer has been officially released

The Boston Celtics will compete in both the Las Vegas and Utah Summer Leagues this year, which guarantees them at least 6 games over the course of the two leagues.  This will give them ample opportunity to see their newly drafted players in action, and to continue the development of some of their other young players.  The schedule is as follows:

Utah Jazz Summer League (EnergySolutions Arena)

Monday, July 6th, 9 PM EST vs. Utah

Tuesday, July 7th, 7 PM EST vs. Philadelphia

Thursday, July 9th, 7 PM EST vs. San Antonio

Las Vegas Summer League (Cox Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center)

Saturday, July 11th, 8 PM EST vs. Portland

Sunday, July 12th, 10:30 PM EST vs. Philadelphia

Tuesday, July 14th, 7 PM EST vs. Miami

The dates and times of any playoff games in the Las Vegas league will be dependent upon the seeding, which will take place after the three-game slate.

The official rosters of the Summer League teams will not be released until after the draft.  However, the early word from Danny Ainge is that the Celtics will probably not be sending Kelly Olynyk, given the amount of time he will be spending with the Canadian National Team this summer.  It is highly likely that Marcus Smart, James Young, and Colton Iverson will be competing this summer.  All three of them could benefit immensely from the playing time and the exposure that the Summer Leagues offer, for different reasons.  Celtics fans will be keeping their eyes on Young in particular, who was electrifying in the D-League but never really impressed in the big leagues last season.

These games are also a great opportunity for fans and teams alike to get a good look at their newly drafted players in a competitive atmosphere.  The rookies will be looking to turn heads and impress their new coaches in just a few weeks, once the games get underway.
