NBA Trade Rumor: Celtics talking with Cavs about Kevin Love

Also, Carmelo Anthony is involved... somehow.

You wanted big names and rumors, here's some more big names and rumors.

Once again, Kevin Love is being tied to the Celtics. This time from Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

Isola: Mega-deal that would send Melo to Cavs still possible - NY Daily News

The Daily News has learned that the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a blockbuster trade centered around Kevin Love. There were very preliminary discussions about expanding the deal to include the Knicks and Anthony, who would have to waive his no-trade clause in order to facilitate a deal to the Cavs.

It sounds like Melo has no interest in waiving his no-trade clause... at least not right now.

If he should change his mind, guess which team is named as one that might be interested in him. You got it, the Boston Celtics.

As for the Boston, the Knicks long time rivals have the assets that appeal to them. Celtics GM Danny Ainge has always been aggressive about adding a star and is intrigued by Anthony. For now, the Celtics are focused on Love, who signed an extension with the Cavs last summer.

On some level I wouldn't put any of this past Danny Ainge. He does want a star. On the other hand, I wonder how much of this is either wishful thinking or using the Celtics as leverage or whatever.

Regardless, over the past year I've become a bit over-saturated with Kevin Love rumors to the point where I don't know what to believe or what to even hope for at this point. I don't even know what I'd offer up in a deal for Love (never mind Melo). So if something happens, we'll analyze it. Otherwise, I'll just wait for the next rumor.

Update: Several reports have come out indicating that there was "nothing happening" with this rumor.  Sounds like it died a quick death when Melo made it clear that he wasn't going to waive his no-trade clause.

Carmelo Anthony almost ready to re-think Knicks future | New York Post

An NBA source told The Post the Knicks had not been approached by the teams, and there was "nothing to it." The report also stated talks did not progress.
