Boston Celtics 2016 NBA Draft Pick Tracker: Nets finish 3rd, Mavs finish 16th

Update Thursday 12:00 AM: The Nets loss clinches the 3rd seed in the lottery for the Celtics. The Mavs loss and the Grizzlies' currently losing by 20+ to the Warriors will lead to a coin flip for the 16th pick.

It's the final day of the regular season, folks. Here is a look at the draft pick seeding scenarios for the Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks picks. Nets pick (unprotected, currently 3rd-best odds)

Brooklyn is one game ahead of the Suns (4th spot). The Nets host the Raptors (8 PM) and the Suns host the Clippers (10:30 PM).

The Nets pick will have the 3rd-best lottery odds if...
  • Nets lose AND Suns lose.
  • Nets lose AND Suns win.
  • Nets win AND Suns win.
  • If this happens, the pick will have a 15.6% chance of being No. 1 and a 46.9% chance of landing in the Top 3.
The Nets pick will tie for the 3rd-best lottery odds if...
  • Nets win AND Suns lose.
  • If this happens, the pick will have a ~13.8% chance of being No. 1 and ~42.4% of being Top 3.

Mavs pick (Top-7 protected, currently 16th or 17th)

The Mavs are the 7th seed, and they have secured a playoff spot. The Mavs pick can fall anywhere from 16th to 19th, including ties. Here are the important games today with implications on the Mavs pick: Mavs vs. Spurs (8 PM), Pistons at Cavs (8 PM), Grizzlies at Warriors (10:30 PM), and Blazers vs. Nuggets (10:30 PM)

  • Mavs lose AND Grizzlies win.
The Mavs pick will be 17th if...
  • Mavs win AND Grizzlies lose AND Blazers win AND Pistons win.
The Mavs pick will tie for 16th and 17th if...
  • Mavs lose AND Grizzlies lose.
  • OR Mavs win AND Grizzlies win AND Blazers win AND Pistons win.
The Mavs pick will tie for 16th and 17th and 18th if...
  • Mavs win AND Grizzlies win AND Blazers win AND Pistons lose.
  • OR Mavs win AND Grizzlies win AND Blazers lose AND the Pistons win.
The Mavs pick will tie for 16th and 17th and 18th and 19th if...
  • Mavs win AND Grizzlies win AND Blazers lose AND Pistons lose.
The Mavs pick will tie for 17th and 18th if...

The Celtics also own their own draft pick, which could fall between 21 and 24, and the following second-round picks: 31st (via Sixers), 35th (via Wolves), 46th (via Grizzlies), 53rd (via Heat), and 58th (via Cavs).
