Boston Celtics 2016 NBA Draft Pick Tracker: Updated on April 6

The Wolves beat the Warriors in overtime on Tuesday. And Wednesday has some very important games for the Celtics.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

It's a good time to be a Boston Celtics fan. The Cs are a thriving playoff team, and they're in a prime position to make an impactful move this summer. But they'll need some lottery luck for their war chest of picks to be as valuable as it can be.

Listed below are the latest odds and information on all eight of Boston's draft picks, as of April 6. If you'd like to learn more about players the Celtics could select, please order my 2016 NBA Draft Guide, and keep tabs on CelticsBlog for more prospect profiles.

On Tuesday....
  • The Wolves beat the Warriors. That's unbelievable, and it's good for the Celtics since it strengthens the chances of the Nets pick odds being 3rd- or 4th-best.
  • The Suns lost to the Hawks. That's bad, since it decreases the chances of the Nets pick improving.
  • The Blazers beat the Kings. That's good, since they extend their lead over the Mavs.
  • The Jazz lost to the Spurs. That's bad, since it increases the chances of the Mavs making the playoffs.
  • The Bulls lost to the Grizzlies. That's bad, since it could impact the slot for the Mavs pick.

If the season ended on the morning of April 6, the Celtics would have the 4th-best lottery odds, and the following picks: 16th, 22nd or 23rd, 31st, 35th, 46th, 52nd, and 58th.

Nets pick (unprotected, currently 4th-best odds)

The Nets pick has an 11.0% chance of being No. 1 and a 37.8% chance of landing in the top 3. Brooklyn is 1.5 games behind the Suns (3rd spot) and 4.5 games ahead of the 5th spot (Wolves). Celtics fans should root for the Nets to lose, and both the Suns and Wolves to win. Here are the remaining games with implications on the Nets pick:

DATE NETS SUNS WOLVES
Wed, April 6 at Wizards ----- -----
Thu, April 7 ----- at Rockets at Kings
Fri, April 8 at Hornets ----- -----
Sat, April 9 ----- at Pelicans at Blazers
Sun, April 10 at Pacers ----- -----
Mon, April 11 vs. Wizards vs. Kings vs. Rockets
Tue, April 12 ----- ----- -----
Wed, April 13 vs. Raptors vs. Clippers vs. Pelicans

If the Nets lose at Washington on Wednesday, they'll lock up a Top-4 worst record, and they'd be only one game back from the Suns.

Mavs pick (Top-7 protected, currently 16th)

The Mavs are tied as the 7th seed and they're one game ahead of the Rockets (9th seed). Celtics fans should root for the Mavs to lose, and the Rockets, Jazz, and Blazers to win. If the Mavs do end up missing the playoffs, it'll be helpful if the Wizards and Bulls finish with better records. The pick is Top-7 protected, which means you don't want the Mavs to win the lottery. Fortunately, they can't have better than the 12th-best odds. Here are remaining games with implications on the Mavs pick:

DATE WESTERN CONFERENCE EASTERN CONFERENCE
MAVS ROCKETS JAZZ BLAZERS WIZARDS BULLS
Wed, April 6 ***Rockets at Mavs*** ----- vs. Thunder vs. Nets -----
Thu, April 7 ----- vs. Suns ----- ----- ----- at Heat
Fri, April 8 vs. Grizzlies ----- vs. Clippers ----- at Pistons -----
Sat, April 9 ----- ----- ----- vs. Wolves ----- vs. Cavaliers
Sun, April 10 at Clippers vs. Lakers at Nuggets ----- vs. Hornets -----
Mon, April 11 at Jazz at Wolves at Mavericks ----- at Nets at Pelicans
Tue, April 12 ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----
Wed, April 13 vs. Spurs vs. Kings at Lakers vs. Nuggets vs. Hawks vs. 76ers

The Rockets-Mavericks game has major implications. If the Mavericks lose, the Rockets will hold the tie-breaker over them (2-1 vs. Dallas so far this season). The Rockets and Jazz would also have the advantage over the Mavericks in the event of a three-way tie.

Celtics pick (currently 22nd or 23rd)

The Celtics are tied as the 4th seed in the East with the Heat. They trail the Hawks (3rd seed) by one half game.
