The Boston Celtics announced on Friday that they have signed former Wizards center Daniel Ochefu.
The #Celtics have signed center Daniel Ochefu. The 6-11 center played in 19 games with the Wizards as a rookie last season.

Ochefu only played in 75 minutes over 19 games as a rookie out of Villanova last season. In limited time, he averaged 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds, while posting a 16.5% rebounding percentage. Ochefu was cut by the Wizards, and the Celtics were able to sign him after he cleared waivers.
Ochefu was cut by the Wizards earlier this week. Guess here is that Ochefu will be cut soon but C's will then get G-League rights on him.

Danny Ainge said on Media Day that the Celtics wanted to “wait and see” what the Celtics had before adding a 15th player to the roster. After seeing what kind of depth the team had once Aron Baynes got hurt, Ainge must have decided that a big was the necessary addition.
It’s still possible that Ochefu spend most of his time in the G-League, but the Celtics have brought on a very physical big who’s greatest strength is rebounding, and was a strong defender in his time at Villanova. He averaged 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 23.4 minutes per game in his senior season.
