The Boston Celtics announced that both Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris will miss the team’s game against the Chicago Bulls tonight. The former is dealing with a quad contusion, while the latter continues to recover from a sore knee.

Morris and Irving aren’t alone in dealing with early-season bumps and bruises. Boston’s star big man, Al Horford, is listed as questionable. With so many of his rotation mainstays temporarily sidelined, Celtics’ head coach Brad Stevens may find some minutes for Kadeem Allen and Jabari Bird, recent two-way, G-League call ups.
The Boston Celtics have called up both of their two-way players, Jabari Bird and Kadeem Allen, for some extra depth. Expect them to both stay with the team for today's game in Detroit and tomorrow's game in Chicago.— Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) December 10, 2017
Boston has not indicated that any of the Irving, Horford, Morris trio is likely to miss extended time, and with the Celtics playing the league’s worst team on the second night of a back-to-back, their decision to sit all three appears to be more of a precaution than a medical necessity.
